Subject: Annotation standard?

For those knowledgeable in fine detail - a question.

Is there an international symbol in botanical circles that represents "Dead" ?

I believe an upside down crucifix may be the symbol for extinct? The medical
profession presumably uses a star for "death" (I only assume this because I'm
old enough to remember the start of Dr. Kildare programs with the " Man,
woman, Birth death, Infinity" presentation!).

Any comments on such symbols, "dead" especially but also "extinct", "extant" ?

Grathias.

Paul

Just in case anyone wondered - no doubt this question gives ample scope to our
joking comrades but it is actually asked in all seriousness.
