A couple of weeks ago, the Duke University newspaper ran an article on
CP at the Botany Department greenhouses. So, the other day, I toddled
over to have a look. The CP collection isn't huge, but there are some
gorgeous plants. There are some nice pots of pings and pygmy drosera, a
small jungle of Drosera binata. Also big specimens of Nepenthes maxima,
N. x dyeriana, Nepenthes veitchii, N. alata, and N. ventricosa. The N.
maxima and N. dyeriana are flowering. If you're in the
Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, it's worth a visit. Might be fun to
check out the Sarracenias at the North Carolina Botanic Gardens in
Chapel Hill on the same day.
The greenhouses are at the back of the Biological Sciences building.
According to their website, the greenhouses are open "10:00 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. every day except Friday. Occasionally they are closed for
servicing, and hours can be limited on public holidays. Visitors may
call in advance (919/660-7334)."
cheers,
Nick
