I can second the advice for Orthene and/or Malathion. For scale on Sarrs.
I use Orthene. It has worked very well without ill effects. Mix according
to label directions. Malathion doesn't seem to work for me with scale, but
I have used it for thrips very effectively.
Neither seems to adversely effect live sphagnum, but Malathion can burn new
growth if plants are exposed to the sun too soon after spraying.

Steve,
Which CP's do you have next to your orchids? I have Paphiopedilums,
Phalaenopsis, and Cattleyas growing in the same lathe house with my
Nepenthes. The scale go for the Neps before the orchids. I mix one teaspoon
per gallon of R.O. water of powdered Orthene or two teaspoons per gallon of
10% powdered malathion to control these tough little buggers. Do not mix
the
two insecticides or spray consecutively without at least ten days between
treatments. Orthene is systemic. but malathion seems to work quicker. Be
careful with either pesticide, as I suspect leaf crippling in Nepenthes
caused by too strong a dose. Also take proper precautions when handling
either of these pesticides, as they are equally effective at eradicating CP
Growers. With the malathion, add a couple of drops of liquid soap as a
wetting agent. For scale, repeat treatment every 10-12 days until they are
gone.
Good growing,
