Subject: VFT and Sarracenia rhizome rot

I had two VFTs growing next to each other in my basement
 bedroom window.
One had wide petioles and the other had thin petioles.
Durring the summer my basement bedroom windows had full sun,
 all day.
The VFTs were okay.
Then, fall came and the sun-light started missing the VFTs.
Sadly, the rhizome rotted in the VFT with the thin petioles.
The VFT with the wide petioles was okay.
It appeared to tolerate less light, better.
I didn't decrease the amount of their water after fall came.

Are Sarracenias similar the Dionaea muscipula?
Less sun, then less water?
More sun, then more water?
I'm not a Sarracenia grower, yet.

Now, the rhizome of my thin petioled VFT is gone.
However, its petioles are green in the middle.
I will try to grow new VFTs from what's left of the plant.
I've read that if I give the petioles a damp, sunny, humid
environment, then they may start baby VFTs from their sides.
Does that sound like something to try?
