Subject: IPSG Newsletter

Hi,

Just to let all IPSG members on this list know that the latest (volume
9) newsletter has finally appeared and should be with members within the
next week. This is the first newsletter to appear for around eighteen
months - hopefully the next one will be a bit sooner in appearance. As
usual the main problem has been a lack of material. Being a relatively
small group we have less resources (in terms of contributing members) to
call upon than perhaps other societies. With this in mind, if any
members are considering writing for the IPSG now is the time to do it!

Volume 9 is as usual wide ranging in its articles. First there is an
article on P. longifolia ssp longifolia based on a field trip by Hans
Luhrs. Next are three articles by Loyd Wix. The first discusses some
taxonomy questions of some of the Iberian Pinguicual species. The second
describes observations of several Pinguicula species apparently
regenerating from roots alone when grown in cultivation. The third
describes a new (and very sucessful) method of germinating "difficult to
germintate" Pinguicula seed. Next is a fascinating article by Paul
Temple describing the Pinguicula species of Cuba based on his second
visit with Hans Luhrs. Finally Oliver Gluch discusses an undescribed
Mexican species of Pinguicula currently known under its nomina nuda as
P. sp "Sierra Tamaulipas".

In the centre of the newsletter there are some colour photos showing
several rarely seen Pinguicula species including P. filifolia, P.
benedicta, P. albida and the unusual epiphytic species, P. lignicola.

Any non IPSG members reading this who would like further details of the
study group should drop me a private mail.

Regards,
