Hi Matt,
This is in answer to an old mail of your to the listserv (sorry I
haven't answered your other mails yet, but I'm first trying to clear my
mail box of all the CP Digests!):
>Hi list, I was wondering if anyone's growing the TRUE D.burkeana. >I
dont mean capillaris or spathulata (as it often turns out to be), I

I saw this species while in Africa last year, the white-fld. form
in Zimbabwe/Mozambique (Chimanimani Mts) and the pink-fld. form at
several places in the Jo'burg/Pretoria region, S.Africa. It is quite
different from both D.spatulata and D.capillaris. I made a copy of a
fantastic drawing of this plant while at Eric Green's house in Cape
Town, but this is unfortunately boxed up somewhere on a ship in the
middle of the Pacific at the moment. I think Eric got it from Rob Gibson
and I'm sure he must have a copy too. You could try asking him. In fact,
if you or anyone has his present e-mail address, I'd really like to get
in touch with him...

D.burkeana is 100% flat on the ground, with the thin leaves so
tightly pressed to the soil that they are easily missed (that is, for
slightly colorblind people like me...)
I think some of the S.African CPers must have the real thing in
cultivation or at least access to nearby populations. Maybe you can
contact them for seeds.
Good Luck!
