Subject: Nepentes observation--pitcher fluid gelling

I've found that Nepenthes pitchers that experience a good
deal of feeding, at times turn their fluid contents into a gel.
Has anyone else observed this or know what this accomplishes
for the plant? This is something I've sporadically observed over the
years across multiple species. The plants were in fine health.
Pitchers exhibiting this gelling were at least a couple of
months old.

Curious,
--Zachary--
