In this digest I've taken the liberty of deleting all messages
that relate to Ross Rowe. The situation is in hand, so let's
move forward.

The problem was caused by a faulty vacation notification program. A
properly configured program will honor the "Errors-to:" header and not
send back to the list directly. Vaction programs should also keep a
list of addresses that have already been sent to, and suppress multiple
notifications to any given address. Ross's program did neither.

If this were to happen again in the future, please do not discuss the
problem on the listproc itself. Every posting simply causes another
bounced message from the out-of-control vacation reply program.

The endlessly echoed discussions about the problem are worse than the
problem itself. Just sit tight and be assured that the trusty list
administrator will patch things up as soon as he comes into work and
looks at the list.

As a final outlet for any list panic, please feel free to call me
at home in a similiar emergency: (650) 856-2354.

Thanks!
