I'd say you're babying them to death. If you just sprinkle D. capensis seed
on top of a pot of wet peat moss, put the pot in a tray of distilled water,
and keep it in a sunny location, you should be able to ignore them.
For most of us capensis is a weed and likes to grow on just about any other
pot of CP around.
