A lot of growers construct a hoop frame from 3/4" PVC tubing, and cover
the frame with 6 mil polyethylene sheeting, all available from hardware
stores. These units work really well and I think there are instructions
all over the web. You could probably put together a usable unit for under
$100, depending on size. The sheeting is not UV resistant and will only
last for a year or two if it's in direct sun, but it's easily replaced.
Also remember, I said usable, not pretty. "Pretty" hobby greenhouses with
aluminum and glass or polycarbonate windows are available not too
expensively from a number of sources--try Charlie's Greenhouse Supply (on
the Web), standard disclaimers.
