I've heard it said that they all grow within 150 miles of Wilmington, NC.
There are a few in the northern tip of SC, but I don't know where. The North
Carolina Nature Conservancy owns a number of VFT sites and organizes field
trips to them from time to time. You could try contacting them
(http://www.tnc.org) or contact me privately; I might be going to a VFT site
sometime this month.
