Rosettes with pitchers on climbing stems.

Nepenthes ampullaria Photographed in Irian Jaya near Tayeve. Air-rosettes which grow from long climbing vines. Nepenthes ampullaria is notable for only having ground- and rosette pitchers but no real upper pitchers. Climbing vines grow short side shoots which grow as rosettes with highly reduced leafblades and comparably large pitchers. The main shoot does not grow any pitchers at all in adult plants.
