Plant is seen here about 9 months old in late summer growth, near end of growing season. Temperature about 85-100F degrees day, 70- 80F night. Growing in sand/perlite/peat which is dry at surface but moist below (watered from tray but not standing in water.) } NAME: [Byblis liniflora subsp. occidentalis] IMAGE: occibyb.jpg DESC: Full view of entire plant CREDIT: Brian Cochran (briacoc@beacon.regent.edu) DATE: 7/94 TEXT:{ Byblis liniflora subsp. occidentalis from Kununurra, Western Australia. Two plants are pictured here next to a Byblis gigantea which is actually the smaller plant on the right. These plants are about seven months old and eventually reached nearly 3 feet tall. The flowers are nearly as large as those on B. gigantea and are distinctly yellow (or occassionally) white on the backside. This plant enjoys slightly dryer soil conditions than Byblis liniflora "TYPE" . } NAME: [Byblis liniflora subsp. occidentalis] IMAGE: darwin.jpg DESC: Full view of entire plant CREDIT: Brian Cochran (briacoc@beacon.regent.edu) DATE: 7/94 TEXT:{ Byblis liniflora from "Darwin", Northern Territory. This is a very small variety of Byblis liniflora with leaves barely 5cm long. In full sun, the plant becomes a very deep red color. It usually only has one flower open at a time. It enjoys wet feet in sand/peat mixture and FULL SUN, unlike the typical Byblis liniflora. The seeds are also much larger than other Byblis liniflora varieties. This form is not presently classified as a unique subspecies. } PUB: Carnivorous Plant Newsletter ISSUE: v24#1 DATE: March, 1995 NAME: [Byblis gigantea] "Perth" TYPE IMAGE: perth.jpg DESC: Full view of entire plant (1st year) CREDIT: Brian Cochran (briacoc@beacon.regent.edu) TEXT:{ Byblis gigantea TYPE from seed collected just south of Perth, Western Australia. Plant is seen here about 7 months old in early summer growth. Temperature about 75-90 degrees day, 65-70 night. Growing in sand/perlite/peat which is dry at surface but moist below (watered from tray but not standing in water.) This form is generally smaller than the northern forms from "Cataby" and "Eneabba" and with smaller flowers. It's glands are, however, more closely spaced. }
