P. cyclosecta belongs to the section Orcheosanthus, but differs from all other species of this section in the violet margin of the summer leaves. This species grows in its Mexican habitat on vertical limestone cliffs. Flowering season is in summer. The winter rosette has a diameter of about 4 cm and consists of 40-50 lanceolate leaves. Summer leaves are longer (about 3 cm long) and the rosette consists of 15-20 leaves.
