Pinguicula laueana is the only species of the genus Pinguicula, which forms all red flowers. Flowers look quite similar to Pinguicula hemiepiphytica because of the wide spur, but I consider it as a different species because of the different winter and summer leaves and the form and colour of the flowers. This pretty species belongs to the tropical heterophyllous growth type, which means that leave forms of winter and summer rosette are different. I grow this species in a calcerous soil mixed with fine sand and peat, keeping soil in summer quite wet, while soil in winter should be kept almost dry. Flowers appear out of the winter rosette.
