Origin of depicted specimens: France, Dépt. Lozère, Gorges du Tarn, 400-520m, limestone (see 7815), collected by myself September 4, 1968.
The petrophilous P. longif. subsp. caussensis grows on vertical or overhanging limestone rock walls at places which are not exposed to direct rainfall.
The adjective caussensis is derived from the local mountain range named 'Les Causses'. Flowers see also 7086 (with P. longif. subsp. reichenbachiana).
