Installed an automagic link to Bob Ziemer's CP Photo Finder for every valid name and cultivar. Bob maintains an amazingly exhaustive list of CP photos on the Web and has graciously made it possible for the DB to link to his list. Please remember, however, that the photos accessed through this link are not independantly verified, and are only as accurate as the person who posted them. Please contact the photographer directly if you have any questions.

Major update to the DB itself. Jan says, "The quite numerous changes reflect typographic changes (generic names should be treated just like species names, i.e. in "[]") and some new content, viz. classification data and red list categories (where available from published literature). I have seen some original (19th century) literature while I was at the University of Kentucky in Lexington last year, and a few long time problems have been resolved this way."

Changed the search engine to allow limiting searches to just cultivars, just accepted names, or to include pattern matching on all fields. This follows from an extension to the database entry definition that uses the '$' symbol for cultivar names, the '~' symbol for invalid names, and the '+' symbol to flag accepted names. A bad link to the ICPS home page was repaired, and a bad photo for Drosera rotundifolia was removed.

Added Kevin Snively's transcription of the out of print book: "Plant Traps and Decoys" by F. Martin Duncan & L. T. Duncan, Reprinted 1930 in Great Britain by Turnbull & Spears, Edinburgh. This old text is out-of-date and contains erroneous information, but is very campy and fun to read.

Added new version of Jan's database. This version now includes all listings with the ICPS as the CP International Registration Authority for cultivar names. These names appear out of the normal collating sequence for the database, as they are simply appended to the end of the nomenclatural database. Please be careful to look through the entire output of a keyword search to make sure you don't miss an entry.

Added the Magellan "4-star award" logo to the homepage. Updated all the text pages to use the VFT background bitmap. Changed the buttons at the bottom of the home page to include "Slide Shows". Added two slide shows: "Pings: a guided tour of care and cultivation", and "Tissue Culturing CP in the Home Kitchen: a tutorial". These are still under construction, (lots of text still needs to be added) but I thought it might be worthwhile making them available for early comments.
