Many of these species grow natively in my area (northern FL)...here's what
I've observed in the wild:
S. flava - grows from very wet (standing water) to fairly moist...this
is the most ubiquitous Sarr here.
S. leucophylla - same...the population closest to me has them growing
in standing water.
S. minor - can grow a little drier, but the soil must still be consistently
(and considerably) moist. These can tolerate occasional dry spells better
than others, but get "stressed" in these conditions.
S. psittacina - grows a little wetter than minor
S. purpurea - grows a little wetter than minor as well.
