I was in Sabah in January of this year and was taken by a
botanist from Mt. Kinabalu National Park to the new
'Nepenthes' site. The site is fenced, and I believe the
park authorities will require all visitors to enter with
guides to prevent unauthorised removal of plant material.
It is a fairly open hillside area at the moment, and most
of the Nepenthes are planted, but they are growing very
well. Its an exciting project which will allow visitors to
view most of the Nepenthes species found on Mt. Kinabalu
within a restricted area. There are also many orchid
species growing on the site.
I have some great photographs taken up there, but cannot
direct you to a web site, because my work site is not for
such things - only forestry! If anyone would really like
to see them, I can send them out to personal e-mail
addresses as *.jpg files.
