It also helps to know how a pesticide works and chlorpyrifos has both
contact and vapour action and also works by ingestion. It breaks down the
nervous system of susceptible pests. It is very important to follow the
manufacturers directions so that you do not build up the tolerance levels of
the pest that you are trying to control.
There is a withholding period of up to 14 days on fruit crops.
Sometimes chemicals are restricted for other reasons other than health
issues and sometimes are reformulated and marketed under other names.
Chlorpyrifos is marketed in New Zealand under five different names that I am
aware of.
I am sure that there will be an appropriate pesticide for whatever it is
that you are trying to control.
