  Miguel,

Being the Holidays, you may be sitting on a goldmine!
People used to pay money for chocolate-covered grasshoppers. Get youself
tubs of chocolate and start tossing them in. Sell them and buy new plants to
replace the lost ones.
If you can't get enough chocolate I would go with the netting. Mind you,
you might set yourself up for lawsuits if you poison and then decide to do
the chocolate thing.
Seriously, I would think you need to spray something to get them off, then
use the netting. It would not be good to cover them if there are hungry
grasshoppers trapped inside with the plants.
Chris raises a good point. Run. How big are these suckers? If you were to
use mantids(mantids are cool-and related to grasshoppers, I think), they
would have to be enormous and gluttons, to be effective.
If you want to remove them and release them into the wild, you can send
them here. It's three degrees below zero here, right now. I will let the
little fellas go for you:)
"No poison for you, my pretties. Hop! Hop to freedom! Come on! Move! Why
are you stopping?"

Keep us updated. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and get rid of all the
pests.
