Some time ago I investigated RO units and found that it was actually
better to rent a good unit from a reliable water company (i.e.
Culligan) because of the repair program, replacement filters, etc. But
it was cheaper still for me just to buy water from a local place that
sells RO water. Now I have a larger collection I'm going to check into
RO rental rates again. I suspect renting an RO unit now will be the
cheapest option.
Tap water in Tucson is Colorado river water that is sent via canal over 300
miles through the desert before being treated. It is so hard that if you
take a drink of water before you go to sleep, calcification will seal your
jaws shut by morning.
Well, that is a little overstatement.
