My Nepenthes N. x dyeriana is getting ready to flower. According to others
who have this hybrid, it is supposed to be a male clone. Does anybody have a
female plant flowering? I can send them some flowers by overnight mail and we
can split the seeds when the fruits develop.
I Hope Gordon isn't listening :)
Here's measurements of some plants I have that look bigger than usual. How do
these compare with others?
N. maxima pitchers measure 19 cm. from the bottom of the pitcher to the point
where the lid connects to the peristome. The filament under the lid near the
front measures 1 cm. This and a glandular boss near the rear of the lid
constantly produce drops of nectar. It's interesting to watch the lid as it
rises off the peristome as the pitcher matures - the filament comes out of a
little hole formed by a fold in the peristome.
N. x wrigleyana (Kosobe) pitcher is 13 cm.
D. intermedia I have outside (not a special large-growing clone) measures 12
cm. in diameter and has a 5 cm. stem. How big does the "giant" form grow?
P. cyclosecta is 8 cm. in diameter.
