I'm not sure what the critter was (mealy bug perhaps?), but your remedy was
probably OK. I don't think that the alcohol will cause any real damage to
the plant, but the new leaf may become distorted either because of the pest
or the alcohol - other growths should be fine. Keep an eye on the plant (and
your others) for any more outbreaks, and kill them as soon as you find them...
