Barry,
The spelling was nearly correct for _Triphyophyllum_peltatum_.
This is really a weed in its home countries, and it is indeed the most
common and widespread Dioncophyllacea (member of the family Dioncophylla-
ceae). The only problem is, it is nearly impossible to transplant it, and
it very rarely sets flowers and seed. Seeds germinate but they soon die in
the greenhouse. But there is some hope: The group of Prof. Bringmann in
Wuerzburg. He is investigating the secondary metabolites from Ancistro-
cladaceae and Dioncophyllaceae, and in his group the first successful
in vitro cultures of Ancistrocladus were established. As he has some
good connections to people in Ivory Coast sending him material of
_Triphyophyllum_, and the Ancistrocladaceae are obviously the family most
closely related to the Dioncophyllaceae, it is just a question of time
until the first in vitro cultures of _Triphyophyllum_ will be established.
Then, greenhouse transplants can be tried on a reasonable scale.
Kind regards
Jan
