Computer-Aided-Botany (CAB?):
Read Schnell's article, 'Cluster Analysis of the Genus Sarracenia' in
Castanea 41:165-176 (1976).
Input is various data from all Sarracenia species and subspecies. Output is
a dendrogram showing relationships between species. I would think once the
relevant data from known species are input into this sort of expert system
described in the article, data from some unknown species/variety/hybrid can
be input and some sort of relationship to the known species can then be
deduced automatically.
I seem to remember an old article in the magazine AI that included "C" source
code where some similar program was constructed.
Plant buys from Andreas Wistuba and Uwe Westphal:
Everybody has a couple weeks left to tell me what they want to buy. The
cost of plants to be bought from Andreas is climbing to $4,000! I got a
call last night from Steve Baker who wants to join too. If somebody wants
to see the list of plants being sold, I put it on my ".plan". To read it,
just "finger donb@coplex.com" or "finger donb@coplex.coplex.com" if the
former doesn't work. This runs about 200 lines. I'll send e-mail this
weekend to those who already wrote and gave their order.
