Devil's claw is also known as "Unicorn Plant" around here. It's in Barry's
_Ibicella, Martynia, Proboscidea_ group. I just talked with someone who may
have _Ibicella lutea_. The flowers had a noxious "rotting grass" smell and
the entire plant was unpleasantly sticky. He also confirmed that it trapped
insects of whitefly/fungus gnat size thoughout the growing season. He thought
it was a "strange alien life form". Seed pods were neat though. If you like
interesting plant forms it might be worth growing, but in a distant corner of
the yard ;-)!
