What would be the disadvantages of using *only* long grain sphagnum
(NOT live) for my Dionaea? I've heard different advice from many sources
(including the excerpt from the Schnell book that Robert Allen posted in
February)...usually boiling down to two recommendations...(1) pure live
sphagnum, (2) 50/50 peat and [sand/perlite]. Is the main use of sand or
perlite to provide more room/air for the roots? So, would 50/50 long
sphagnum and sand/perlite be equally as good? I guess in the coming years I
will experiment with different mixes myself, but I'd like to know what your
personal recommendations are.
Thank you.
