Air temperatures reach as high as 115--120 F (46--49 C). Since the humidity is
only about 60%, evaporative losses are high so soil temperatures are probably
significantly cooler. By invoking this cooling mechanism and mumbling
something only half-believable about microclimates, I wave my arms in the
air to explain why I can grow Heliamphora in such conditions!
