I'm with Ron. Find out where plants come from. Ask questions, so what
if the dealer is uncomfortable!!
As long as there is a market for collected plants, there will be
collectors. But if buyers demand propagated plants, dealers will change
their habits and begin propagating. No one stays in business with a
product they can't sell.
The wholesale (and retail) destruction of our beautiful planet must end
or we will all go down with it. And we as gardeners should be on the
front lines of stopping it; we are, possibly, the last generation of
people who can.
Carolina parakeets were trapped for sale as pets, there were plenty in
the wild so no one bothered to breed them. Well, the last one died in
1914. We should know by now that when the wild gene pool is gone; not
all our intentions can put it back again.
Let's not let any more species become extinct because we are too
embarrassed or lazy to make dealers account for the plants they sell.
Happy trapping,
Chelsie
