Fireflies and Nepenthes

Following some bright discussion on this list, I spent some time last
evening catching and feeding fireflies to one of my nepenthes (it was a
light snack). They (the beetles) blink for a long time, at least until they
drown in the pitcher fluid. You can see them flashing away from a moderate
distance... Don't know what effect this will have on the plant, though.

I also tried to feed one to a VFT, but it wouldn't bite.
