Greenhouse events

A couple of interesting events in the greenhouse. First, a large preying
mantis has shown up, hopefully looking for a place to deposit an egg case.
She(?) has developed a decided liking for Nepenthes, my N. khasiana in
particular. Last night I thought she had met an untimely end in a pitcher,
but actually was feeding on the nectar secreted around the perisome and
hood. Maybe she's turned vegetarian!?! Additionally, I seem to have
enlisted some excellent help in controlling algae in my tank of U. inflata.
A local tree frog dropped of her eggs and the tadpoles have almost
completely eliminated the algae with no apparent damage to the utrics. I'm
going to be really sorry to see them go.

Take Care!
