Joe Roegner (JRoegner@aol.com, 1030 Paces Circle, Apt. 208,
Apopka, Florida 32703, USA) has suggested that we all interview Allen
Lowrie. We were thinking of asking interested people to send in
questions to someone who would be willing to mail these questions off to
Allen. After Allen answered and posted them back to this volunteer, the
questions and answers could be written in here for all of us to see. I
was hoping one of our aussie friends would volunteer to do this job.
To tell the truth, knowing Allen a bit as I do, I don't think
he'd like to answer too many questions since he's an extremely busy
person (we don't want to get in the way of his CP work, do we? 8*) ), so
it would probably be best to cut them down to a minimum. We could select
a few or something, I don't know. So how about it? Any suggestions?

Right off though, I can answer Joe's 2 questions

> In my case I was wondering how he was able to amass so many different
> varieties of seeds and what brought him to choose this unusual business in
> the first place. I recall Jan had complained as to when he was going to
> release his next book.

The latest news from down under is that Allen's 3rd book will come
out sometime in the first semester of '96. This is still really hot,
boiling news. Allen just told me so when he called me in late October.
As to his seed list, you may observe that he has a large variety
of South African, Brazilian, and Australian CP seeds. Well the aussie CP
seeds he collects himself. As to the S.African and Brazilian seeds, he
gets them from Eric Green and myself, respectively. We have a 'free
market' trading agreement of sorts with Allen. I remember that Allen also
had a large selection of Sarracenia seeds a few months ago. He has a
similar contact who send him these seeds. I can't remember the guy's
name, but he's either british or american. The other odds and ends he
gets from a variety of sources, either donations or exchanges I guess.
