Hello all,
Re: Andrew Marshall's N.Maxima Shoot tip. I have no experience
of
nepenthes viruses, but I can say that I have had an Epiphyllum which had
a tomato rust virus, and I cut out all the affected leaves and took a
tiny shoot tip cutting. The virus came back on the remaining leaves and
the plant which grew from the shoot cutting was also infected. It's
only my tuppence'worth but.... By all means grow the shoot tip plant
but destroy it if it show signs of virus; don't give, sell or trade that
plant away ever, even if it appears to be healthy. Unless you have
years worth of knowledge, a degree in protoplast isolation and a
20million x scanning electron microscope ( to isolate the virus) , I
would take my advice and not let it or its offspring go out of your
greenhouse/growing area. Sorry.
