If I may add just one word of caution: when you put your seeds
outside, make sure the pot/tray is covered with a net or similar
as I have had quite a lot of trouble with blackbirds (UK variety)
upsetting everything in their search for food. They can also upset
fairly large plants too if they think there's something tasty in
it for them (whether there is or not:-))
