I have no idea about the ladyslipper, although I've never heard
of a carnivorous plant with that common name. It may be that the flower
is thought to be carnivorous as it may trap insects momentarily to ensure
pollination.

In Minnesota the only pitcher plant I can imagine living there is
S.purpurea. Most likely, it would be S.purpurea purpurea (commonly known
as the northern pitcher plant, or purple pitcher plant). Hope that helps.
