Hello everyone,

My name is Carlos Hurtado and I am totally new in growing CP's. I am
a
Chemical Engineer and live in El Salvador Central America. This is a
tropical country, and the second in deforestation after Haiti. CP's
have fascinated me for a long time. In my country it is quite difficult
to get them. For what I know, there are no native CP's in El Salvador,
and nobody I know raises them here. Recently, I bought some VFT seeds
through a mail box service I have in the States. My intention is to
start growing CP's with them. I have read and used all the enlightening
information you provide in this group. For starting, I just sprinkled
the seeds in a pot filled with sphagnum moss damped with distilled
water. Here it is quite difficult to obtain, in quantities, reasonably
priced distilled water. I was thinking of using bottled drinking water.
Any one knows if it is OK to use this type of water, it has no chemicals
like chlorine, only the natural chemicals of well water, filtered and
purified with ozone. I have placed the pot in a patio covered with
saran, it has 70% light & heat retention and rain can pass through it.
That way I can maintain a relatively high humidity and protect the VFT's
from direct tropical sun. The raining season has just started here.
For the moment, I think rain will be enough to maintain the sphagnum
moss damp. I will appreciate any tips, information and internet
references about VFT's and how to grow them.

Thanks in advance, I look forward to experiencing CP's with all of you.

Carlos
