Hello,

In response to Chris Teichreb's posting yesterday...

I am hoping to accomplish a few goals with the CP site I am starting on
the net:

1) Provide CP'ers with an easy to remember domain name from which they
can gather information about CP.

2) Provide FREE use of Musictown Online's audio/video servers, chat
rooms, and other advanced internet software that we use for our business.

3) Build up a huge amount of internet traffic to the site. (Exisiting
CP sites I hear already do quite well even though they do not have
easy-to- remember domain names.)

4) Provide strong educational materials with steps individuals can take
to preserve wetlands and other natural resources.

5) Use the expected internet traffic as the basis to sell advertising on
the site with revenue from advertising to be donated to the purchase and
preservation of endangered wetlands containing CP.

Unfortunately, at the moment, I personally do not have the time to build
and maintain this site. I do, however, have the equipment, servers,
dedicated internet bandwidth, software, domain name, and advertising
contacts all in place.

I have put out a couple posts on this list looking for and individual or
groups of indivuals who would like to build or manage this site. Or
perhaps someone who already has a CP site on a university computer (there
are quite a few) who might want to put their site at http://
carnivorousplants.com, still receive credit for it, and provide an even
greater service to the CP community then they are now since revenue from
ads on this site will help protect plants and preserve their habitats.

Unfortunately, although a couple people wrote to me in recent weeks, no
one has followed through with an interest in building or maintaining
their current site, or a new site at http://carnivorousplants.com.

So, the "grand opening" of http://carnivorousplants.com will be delayed
until either 1) I can personally create the site, or 2) someone
volunteers to help build and manage it. Although I hope the site will
remain "noncommercial" in nature and all advertising revenue will go to
the preservation of CP's, perhaps we can offer a commission from ads
(perhaps 15%) to go to whoever manages the site if this is needed as an
incentive for someone to get involved.

So, if anyone is interested, please let me know! Otherwise, as soon as
my schedule lightens up a bit, I will begin building the site myself. :
)

THANKS!

Jeff Gold
