I used a product called Turface, which is a type of montmorilinite
clay, (unsure of spelling)or expanded clay. I had no problem in mixtures
used on Nepenthes, Drosera and Sarraceniae. I never used it with any other
CP varieties. This product looks like small pieces of baked clay of
approximately 1/8 inch (3mm). I don't think it would radically change the pH
of the mix as it would probably be close to neutral. However as it is a
clay substance it may have the ability to hold ions or cations in the
mixture more readily. I am not sure. Hope this helps.
