Ch'ien,
I used a form of cocoanut sawdust years ago for and experiment with
sprouting nepenthes seed. The long term effect on the plants were that
it turned the leaves a pale yellow and stunted the growth which i
assumed it was robbing nitrogen from the plant. i also have a n.
khasiana growing in a cocoanut husk with a mix of quartz sand, P-4
and shredded cocoanut husk doing ok but not great. When I tested these
products they also came up alkaline.
If you find an acid based product over ther let me know. Pumice seemed
to be available which works well in a mix or by itself.
Truly,
