Also, just thought I'd ask on behalf of the IUCN/SSC CP Specialist Group
for everyone's opinion on the CITES listing of cps (don't all rush at
once!!). I know that Cephalotus will probably come up for discussion at
the next CITES Plants Committee Meeting in Costa Rica on 11-16 Nov.
1996. I have comments from a few cpers about the relevance of listing
this and other species on CITES, but it would be good to get it delisted
or removed from the Appendices if it's not threatened by trade or
collection any more. At present, I don't need a diatribe on the
problems with CITES per se, etc, but hard data on the cp species that
are listed on the Appendices. Your opinions will be passed onto the
relevant authority.
