>Hey, did anyone see the National Geographic segment on CPs.
>It was broadcasted in Los Angeles last night and was great!
>They covered VFTs, roridula (sp?), drosera, etc.
Here in Finland they are running a plant series with David Attenborough as
host. I haven't caught the beginning of it and the TV listings have freely
translated the title to "Plant World" so I'm not sure who produced it. A few
weeks ago the TV listing said "desert plants" so I didn't go out of my way
to catch it. (I should have any way, it's a good series). The next day a
co-worker said "did you see the carnivorous plants last night on TV?" I've
been kicking myself every day for missing it.
>Yep, it's true, but your lights will not be putting out much UV anyway,
>especially the short-wave UV that causes plants to color up, so don't worry.
I have a "black light" UV light, used to light up fluorescent paint posters,
etc. It's not protected in any way, no warning labels, so I presume this is
still too long a wavelength (400 nm maybe?) to be helpful for plants. Has
anyone tried using a black light tube in their terrarium?
