For years I have just filled 5 gallon buckets with peat and poured water
through them. I drill a hole at the bottom of the bucket and attach a thin
hoses. (which let me bottle it). Pour a gallon in the top and place the
empty container under the hose - instant tea! (Lipton or Tetley would be
amused at this adaptation of "instant tea?")

Granted, it is not as strong as if it were boiled, but it still does the
trick for me. I can always run it through more than once if I need it
stronger. There are dual motives for my doing this in the first place.

1) I have a supply of wet peat on hand at all times 2) My water becomes
acidic which helps control algae.

and I never realized that I was helping color up my plants at the same time!

Take care & keep on growing,
