I am producing an exciting new feature for the Nature section of the
Discovery Channel's Website, Discovery Online
(http://www.discovery.com).

Debuting in January 1997, Wild Discovery Wired will be a weekly online
"ask an expert" series that will put our general audience in touch with
professionals who are knowledgeable about various aspects of the natural
world, from animal behavior to habitat conservation. This is not a
"live" talk show featuring real-time chat, but a "lively" conversation
like a bulletin board or news group that allows people to post questions
and comments directly to Discovery Online and check back later for
replies from the guest expert.

Would any of you be interested in sharing your knowledge and passion for
carnivorous plants with our curious and enthusiastic visitors for one
week? One of the largest sites on the Web, Discovery Online presently
records well over 20,000 visits per day to the site as a whole. In
October 1996, DCO was voted "Cool Site of the Year"

To interact with Discovery Online's Nature visitors, you'll need Internet
access and a graphical Web browser such as Netscape 1.2 or above or Microsoft Explorer. Depending on the activity on the bulletin board and the speed of your Internet connection, your time commitment would be approximately 30-45 minutes a day -- at whatever time of day is convenient for you. Each new topic begins on Tuesday and ends on Monday. Posting by the expert on weekends is optional, though certainly helpful. Previous week's conversations will be archived for browsing, so that unlike a broadcast appearance, your comments would continue to be available to interested visitors.

Unfortunately Discovery Online cannot offer any monetary compensation
for your time. I realize that you are do doubt quite busy, but I hope
that the chance to discuss your work with Discovery Online's sizable and
loyal audience will be sufficient enticement. We'll be happy to link to
web sites you recommend that fe
