More on Moving Drosophyllum

Gordon and other Drosophyllum fans,

apparently Slack found that all the Drosophyllum plants he
took to the Chelsea flower show died and thus he advised not
to move them. However whether it was the movement, how they
were moved, or the week at Chelsea that killed them is a
matter for speculation. Non the less it is now a part of CP
mythology that Drosophyllum cannot be moved or transplanted.

Although my own experiences are not as severe as Gordons, I
have passed on spare plants to friends in the UK which has
involved car journeys of 1 to 2 hours and non of these
plants have suffered as a consequence. In addition I
regularly move my plants from green house to green house as
I constantly rearrange things to try to create more room.

Seedlings and small plants can be transplanted if you are
careful, but damage to the roots normally results in death.

hope this helps

Regards
