I've transplanted Sarrs at a number of different times over the years. Here
in Ontario (in the greenhouse) my deep south sarrs (florida, south georgia)
are starting to shoot up flower scapes, about 1 cm high right now. This is
my indicationt that growth is starting in all the sarrs and its time to
divide and transplant. This seems like the best time to me. I find that
if I wait till the plants are pitchering in March and April, that the
division and transplant weakens that plant, especially if you intend on
polinating flowers (as I do). Mid summer transplants seem to be OK too,
say around the end of June. This gives the plant ample time to establish
before winter sets in. I've transplanted plants in August and September as
well. These plants tended to die during dormancy. As a general rule, I've
determined that for my conditions, Mid January to early Feb is the best
time to divide and transplant Sarrs. If that is missed, then I do it in
the end of June. However, at this point, I tend not to divide the rhyzome,
just transplant!

Just my 2 cents
