I just did a "show and share" on CP with my three-year-old daughter and her
daycare class. The theme of the month was the changing seasons/spring, so
that was the tie-in. I demonstrated a VFT, Sarracenia purpurea venosa, and D.
capensis. The kids got to touch each (the closing traps, the sticky glands,
the hairy hood of the purp, etc.). I checked out
some juvenile CP books from the library for the teacher
to show to the class later, and then we did an art project:
paper plate VFT/bug games (details upon request).

The introduction was that it was spring, and plants were
"waking up." We discussed what plants need to grow (soil,
water, air, sun, etc) and then we talked about something
else that a special group of plants needed ... bugs. It was
very gratifying to see a class filled with three and four-year-olds walking
around saying the words "carnivorous plants." The whole thing took half an
hour.

BTW, my wife is an educator, and she developed/drafted
a lesson plan to accompany. I would be happy to provide
if anyone's interested. (may also talk with ICPS about
including it and other resources as part of the proposed
educational resource network page of the CP homepage.)
