The slogan-filled, typographically jumbled, and nearly indecipherable label
of Superthrive states that the contents are:
0.09% vitamin B-1
0.048% 1-Naphthyl acetic acid
A related synthetic root hormone product is "Hormex", which contains:
0.240% 1-Napthyleneacetic acid
0.013% 3-Indolebutyric acid
0.250% vitamin B-1 (Thiamin hydrochloride)
This is, obviously, a more concentrated solution, that contains a second
synthetic plant hormone.
Some plant propagation textbooks show graphs of the effects of increasing
concentrations of 1-Napthyleneacetic acid. The curve is somewhat bell
shaped: dilute solutions promote some root growth, higher concentrations
promote more, until after some point, even higher concentrations
progressively reduce root growth.
