Subject: Adrians green slime and seed germination

          Adrian,

I was very interested to read your seed growing experiences.
I have occaisionaly seen green slime and had other unwanted
organisms appear in some of my pots.

In your note you didn't mention what species you are growing
from seed or other conditions you use in your germination
set up. I would be most interested to hear what species you
have got to germinate by your method.

>However, for the benefit of similar sufferers (I can't be
>the only one?) I have been experimenting with regular light
>top watering from a hand sprayer. This seems to discourage
>the slime and the seeds germinate without problem. As most
>of the seeds are rather fine, it is important not to overdo

>pot and away.

The reason for my interest is that it is not clear to me
whether you have achieved germination through avoiding the
green slime or whether the regular overhead waterings have
promoted germination. I have some opinions on this as a
result of some recent experiences germinating some Euro
Pinguicula including P.alpina. I will send a detailed
mailing on this next week when I have a little more time.

          Regards

          Loyd
