Hi Randy,
It seems odd that baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) would be beneficial
especially since it contains sodium. I would expect the sodium levels
in soil to build up over time (months? years?) and eventually harm the
plant should it be watered by the tray system.
Keep us posted, pleased. Maybe this is a case of a little is good and a
lot could kill you (or rather the plant).
